| The Nominations Committee
of MANA National Board of Directors urges you to exercise your rights
as a MANA MEMBER and participate in the election of Officers for the National
Board of Directors. There is one position for each of four regions; West,
East, North Central and South Central (to be reviewed on a continuous
basis). A list of the regions is attached. The process is very simple:
submit your name or that of a member who has indicated both interest and
the commitment to help govern, guide and direct MANA, A National Latina
Organization during the next two-three years. Elections will be
run in November and results announced in December for a January start
date. A person may self nominate.
The Governance of Corporation, Article
VI, Section B., Paragraph (1) of the National Bylaws states: “The
National Board of Directors shall determine the goals, objectives, and
policies of the Corporation. It shall provide executive direction and
oversight of the Corporation’s operations and personnel, and ensure
compliance with the relevant legal and financial requirements.”
Candidates at minimum must have three years as a MANA member in good standing
(as of September 30, 2004) and proven leadership experience at the local
level. Chapter presidents will be contacted to verify participation. Members
are expected to make a personal financial donation to MANA, A National
Latina Organization. The annual amount presently set by the Board of Directors
is $1,000 which may include the board member paying for own registration
at MANA events and financing part of the expense incurred in fulfilling
attendance at board meetings, Las Primeras® and the Annual Meeting.
Board members must work on fund development for the National Organization.
How to Submit a Nomination:
Please use a 12 point font to provide the following on a single
8 1/2 x 11 bond paper:
1. Name; Mailing Address (es) and
E-mail;
2. Telephone number(s) daytime, evening & weekend and cell, if applicable;
3. Initial Month and Year of membership;
4. The date when dues were last paid to National;
5. Indicate whether you are a chapter or at-large member.
6. Specify your geographic region (according to attached guidelines).
7. List local leadership positions held;
8. List two individuals as references; State why you or the person you
are nominating want to serve on the Board; and,
9. Describe the nominee’s leadership experience in three and not
more that four typed lines (this is what will show on the ballot if
your name is placed in nomination).
10. The nominee must conclude with the statement: “I understand
the requirement to attend a minimum of two board meetings and the annual
meeting, the financial donation required that may include contributions
in the form of partial expenses (which may be contributed by friends,
sponsors and/or fund raisers) in-kind donations, and active participation
in MANA fund development.”
11. Statement should be signed, dated and postmarked no later than November
20, 2004.
12. Attach a resume to provide additional background information.
