MANA Partners to Host Opportunities Conference

Washington, D.C., August 20, 2003 - MANA, A National Latina Organization (MANA) has partnered with the U.S. Department of Labor to present Opportunities Conference 2003, the first-ever conference designed to address the needs of the nation's two fastest growing segments of the workforce: Asian Pacific and Hispanic Americans.

Under the leadership of Secretary Elaine L. Chao and Secretary Mel Martinez, Opportunities Conference 2003 "Asian Pacific and Hispanic Americans: Building on America's Promise" will be held on September 24-25, 2003 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington D.C.

The event will emphasize key components of economic development including minority homeownership, job training, and understanding procurement opportunities. Workshops will provide participants with information about small business development, accessing capital, doing
business with the government, opportunities for faith-based and community organizations, and assistance to limited English proficiency workers.
