MANA SUPPORTS NOMINATION OF JOHN W. SNOW FOR SECRETARY OF TREASURY

 

Washington, D.C., December 16, 2002 - MANA, A National Latina Organization (MANA), supports President George W. Bush in his recent nomination of John W. Snow as the next Secretary of the Treasury. Mr. Snow is a highly qualified candidate for this cabinet-level position, with past experience in corporate governance, in past presidential administrations, and in academia. He has proven his commitment to ethical corporate governance, to increasing employment rates across the country, and to promoting businesses of all sizes. Mr. Snow is a strong advocate for improved corporate governance practices.

"In today's business environment, the issues of corporate and social responsibility are critical to the well being of our economy," said Alma Morales Riojas, President and CEO of MANA, A National Latina Organization. "Based on his work in this area and his exceptional credentials, we feel that his appointment is timely."

Alma Morales Riojas also serves as Board Treasurer for the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), an organization that works with the top Fortune 1000 companies to implement ethical corporate governance practices and to include Hispanics in Corporate America at the level commensurate with their economic contribution.

MANA supports President Bush in his nomination of John W. Snow and looks forward to working with him in his efforts to promote responsible corporate governance.
